However, thanks to a number of knowledgeable people on StackExchange I am now pretty much good to go. I’d been put off by what seems to be the sheer complexity and the impenetrable nature of the so-called documentation. I’m hoping that this will – in the long term – make it easier for me to adjust to the various bibliography styles required by various academic journals. Having had a bit of spare time over the last couple of days I’ve started (and nearly finished) moving over from bibtex to the more versatile/complicated/customisable biblatex for preparing bibliographies in LaTeX documents.
